Description

This Landscapes, Literature, and Education program is directed toward students in education, and anyone interested in the history, culture, and nature of Great Britain. Join us in an extraordinary study abroad experience where you will travel to the majestic landscapes of England and Scotland which have influenced British writers, such as Jane Austen, J.K. Rowling, the Bront sisters, Roald Dahl, Beatrix Potter, William Wordsworth, to name just a few.

A week of classes on the campus of Cambridge University is followed by a 2-week educational field tour of the school systems, natural systems, and cultural landscapes of Great Britain. We will study the history and culture of Roman, Medieval and modern Britain; explore the settings for Mansfield Park, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, and Harry Potter; and discover the diverse ecology of the landscapes that influenced writers. Travel with us to Stonehenge, Roman Bath, Hadrian's Wall, the Lake District National Park, Edinburgh Castle, Northumbria National Park, Saxon Norwich and London's Houses of Parliament.

The program is suitable for students from a wide variety of backgrounds, and no prior resource conservation knowledge is assumed. In previous years, students from institutions across Georgia and elsewhere (and from diverse departments including Journalism, Business, Communications, Management, History, Latin, and Animal Science as well as Education, Forestry and Anthropology) have participated and succeeded in the program.
